  • 50g unsalted butter, softened
  • 120g caster sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 270g cake flour (or plain)
  • 16g baking powder
  • 190ml full cream milk
  • 150ml golden syrup
  • Extra golden syrup, for serving
  • Vanilla ice cream, for serving


Morgan Hipworth – Golden Syrup Steamed Pudding
  1. Grease an 850ml pudding dish with butter.
  2. Preheat your Westinghouse oven to 170°C with the "EasyBake + Steam" setting.
  3. In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, then gradually add the eggs, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla essence. Sift the cake flour and baking powder into the mixture, then add the milk and mix until smooth.
  5. Pour the golden syrup into the base of a greased baking dish, then pour the batter over it. Cover with baking paper and the pudding dish lid.
  6. Bake for 40-50 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.
  7. Serve warm with extra golden syrup and vanilla ice cream.
