Safely Cooking with Kids in the Kitchen

Cooking is a great skill which can be used throughout your entire life and involves science, maths and health education. It’s a skill that will teach your children to read and understand labels, calculations and measurement. With many advances in kitchen appliances, there is so much more children can do safely to get involved with meal prep. The best way to start introducing your children to cooking is by giving them small and safe tasks. Then increase their responsibility and the complexity over time:

Small Tasks
Positive Experiences

You want them to have positive experiences so they want to come back and cook together with you again. Start with small tasks like taking the leaves off the celery; this will make them feel like they are part of your experience.

Cooking With Safe Equipment

Induction cooktops only generate heat in the cookware so the cooktop does not get too hot and there are no dangerous flames.

Your children can now help stir a dish while you continue preparing dinner.

Safe and Easy Responsibilities For Your Children

With the Westinghouse 90cm oven, your kids can be in charge of watching the roast lunch cooking. The lights will allow them to monitor what is going on in the oven.

If they get too excited about what they see, the cool to touch oven door will ensure they don’t burn their fingers.
